About

My name is Corey Ragan and I am a director, teacher, and multimedia professional currently residing in Columbus, OH.

Artistically, my current priority is intentionally disrupting how we have historically told stories and ensuring the world onstage reflects the world we live in today. One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned as a director, is, producing meaningful art requires intentionality. All of my shows are cast color-consciously and inclusive of gender identities, sexuality, body shapes, and lived experiences. If I can change how a story has traditionally been told, and it serves the text, I will. My commitment to crafting a new normal in theatre is at the center of all the work I do.

This is also the core tenant of my teaching practice. In a class, students should be able to tell stories they care about and reflect their lived experiences. Be it devising/playwriting, traditional acting methodologies, or coaching a musical theatre song, my top priority is ensuring a student feels seen and connects personally to the character they are playing.

When directing, I focus on telling stories that fall at the intersection of entertainment and education. As artists, we have a duty to help provide humanity in what is becoming an increasingly hostile world. The primary goal of all my work is to create positive change in the world while spreading joy everywhere I can.

If you are ready to radically redefine the way theatre is made and have fun while doing it, I’m your guy!
